The success of the Women’s Health Centre lies in the interests of diverse groups of Health Professionals working together for the common good of the patients. The stakeholders involved intimately in the Womens Health Centre are drawn from the Cancer Centre, Surgical and Specialties Service and Diagnostic Radiology.
The Women’s Health Centre provides a wide range of care to the Women of South Australia and the Northern Territory. Clinics held at the Womens Health Centre include:
- General Breast and Breast Oncology,
- General Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology,
- Menopause,
- Dermatology- Gynaecology,
- Urodynamics,
- Colposcopy,
- Uro-gynaecology
- Physiotherapy and;
more recently a High Risk clinic for women with genetic predisposition to develop breast and ovarian cancer.
Assessment tools and clinical indicators provide a means for continual and ongoing review and improvement of services and information provided.
The Women’s Health Centre Nursing staff are a highly dedicated group of women who provide information and nursing care in a sensitive and supportive manner to address the needs of women attending the clinics. The nurses are also involved in health promotion activities to the South Australian public and health professionals through displays, information forums, professional meetings and seminars. The Womens Health centre staff also have close links to professional bodies such as the Cancer Council, Multicultural Centre, Familial Cancer Unit, Shine SA, Pregnancy Advisory Services, Ovarian cancer and Breast cancer Networks, Gynaecological Oncology Support Nurse, Breast Care Nurses, Social work departments to name a few.
