Centre for Digestive Diseases Overview

Welcome to the web site of Centre for Digestive Diseases. Centre for Digestive Diseases is a 96 bed service, occupying three inpatient wards, a day procedure area, and an Outpatient area within the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The service includes the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Adelaide Dental Hospital and has affiliations with the University Department of Surgery, University Department of Medicine and the Clinical Department of Nursing.

The service has 10,000 inpatient attendances and 10,000 outpatient attendances per year.

Centre for Digestive Diseases provides care to patients presenting to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, general medical and general surgical diseases. It also has a major role in the management of patients suffering from the effects of trauma.

Centre for Digestive Diseases undertakes to provide modern, state of the art, cost efficient, high quality treatment to all of its patients. This it does in a timely, humane fashion, always being aware of the patients’ needs and sensitivities. It strives to be innovative and at the cutting edge, continuing to conduct clinically relevant research while ensuring that patients are not offered unproven treatment except in the context of appropriately designed and executed clinical trials.
