Hyperbaric Nurses Courses

The Royal
Adelaide Hospital has combined with the University of Adelaide to offer a
range of options for nurses wishing to study hyperbaric medicine. The courses
are as follows:

About The Courses
All courses:
- adhere to the standards of the Hyperbaric Technicians and Nurses Association (HTNA).
- require successful completion of the ASNZ2299:1, 1999 Diving Medical.
- recommend temporary registration with the Nurses Board of South Australia.
Royal Adelaide Hospital Certificate
- will be held over a 2 week period, consisting of one week of lectures and practical
followed by one week of clinical experience
- is assessed by a combination of multiple choice / short answer examination, workbook
and a number of skill checks.
- the cost is AUD$1445.00 (not including accommodation). Subject to availability,
the RAH offers basic accommodation in the Residential Wing.

- applicants must submit ASNZ2299:1, 1999 diving medical certification to the RAH for
review by the Director of Occupational Health at least 6 weeks prior to the course
- deposit of AUD$200 required at least 6 weeks prior to the course (to hold place
and permit dispatch of course material)
Course Dates

Graduate Certificate in Hyperbaric Nursing
- may be undertaken over one or two semesters
- comprises two subjects, Hyperbaric Nursing I and II, each worth 6 credit points:
- Hyperbaric Nursing I is conducted as the RAH Certificate course
- Hyperbaric Nursing II can be studied at a distance through flexible learning
Graduate Diploma in Nursing Science (Clinical Nursing)
- may be undertaken over one year of full-time study or equivalent and consists of:
- Hyperbaric Nursing I
- two core subjects (4 credit points each)
- elective subjects to the value of 10 credit points
