18 December 2009 SA Health Public Health Warning
SA Health has issued a public health warning after an employee at the Vatan supermarket in Kilburn was diagnosed with hepatitis A. The supermarket, on Prospect Road, Kilburn, specialises in retailing products to the Afghani community.

1 December 2009 Cover Up Against Mossie Threat, warns SA Health
SA Health today launched its Fight the Bite! campaign to encourage South Australians to guard against mosquito-borne disease this summer. Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paddy Phillips, said the campaign highlighted the potential health risks of mosquito bites and how to protect against them.

24 November 2009 SA Health issue lye water warning
SA Health is reminding South Australia's African community of the dangers of lye water following a number of serious injuries involving the cooking additive. Dr Kevin Buckett, SA Health's Public Health Director, said lye water is safe when used correctly in cooking but can cause serious injury when consumed neat.

23 November 2009 SA Health issues legionella warning
SA Health is advising general practitioners and environmental health officers of an increase in cases of Legionnaires' disease in South Australia. Six cases of the disease have been reported since 1 October, bringing the total number of cases for 2009 to 15.

13 November 2009 Stay safe in the sun and avoid a life-time of hurt
Summer's harsh and early arrival has already left a number of South Aussies blistered and peeling, reinforcing the sun smart message. Director of Cancer Clinical Trials at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Professor Michael Brown says preparation and understanding are the keys to staying safe in the scorching conditions we are currently experiencing.

12 November 2009 Keep kids' lunch safe in hot weather
SA Health is reminding parents to be alert to the increased risk of food poisoning when preparing their children's school lunches during the hot weather. Dr Kevin Buckett, Public Heath Director, SA Health said parents can follow a few simple steps when preparing their children's lunches to avoid possible food poisoning.

12 October 2009 Precautionary Hepatitis C Screening
Thirty patients from the Royal Adelaide Hospital have been offered precautionary screening for hepatitis C after a hospital employee tested positive for the virus. SA Health Chief Medical Officer Professor Paddy Phillips said that the risk of transmission to any patient was extremely low.

9 October 2009 World First for RAH'S Burns Team
The Royal Adelaide Hospital's Burns Unit has become the first team outside the United States to be accredited by the American Burn Association (ABA). Health Minister John Hill said the international recognition is a reflection of the staff's commitment to providing world-class health care.

29 September 2009 Human Swine Influenza Update, 29 Sep 2009
A 50 year old woman with underlying medical conditions died with swine flu at Flinders Medical Centre last week. This brings the number of fatalities in SA associated with the virus to 26. There have been a total of 8944 confirmed cases of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Influenza in South Australia, with four patients with the virus hospitalised this week.

22 September 2009 Human Swine Influenza Update, 22 Sep 2009
Five more people in South Australia have died with swine flu, bringing the number of fatalities in SA associated with the virus to 25. A woman in her eighties died at Lyell McEwin Hospital and a woman in her twenties died at Flinders Medical Centre last week. Both patients had underlying medical conditions.

SA Health today confirmed that two South Australians have died with swine flu. A 77 year old woman and a 37 year old man died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on 16 August. Both patients had underlying medical conditions.

SA Health today confirmed that a 77 year old man with underlying medical conditions died with swine flu on Monday 7 September at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This brings the number of fatalities in SA associated with the virus to 18.

23 August 2009 Meningococcal case - 7 month old female
A 7 month old female from metropolitan Adelaide has been admitted to hospital with invasive meningococcal disease and is in a stable condition. This case has no links with other recent cases. SA Health has identified ten contacts. Of these, seven have been directed to receive clearance antibiotics.

21 August 2009 Human Swine Influenza Update, 21 August 2009
SA Health today confirmed that two people have died with swine flu, bringing the number of deaths in SA associated with the virus to 14. A 72 year old woman died yesterday [20 August] at Calvary Hospital, and a 60 year old man died on 8 August at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Both had underlying medical conditions.

SA Health has been made aware by Forensic Science SA of a 41 year old woman who died on 7 August and tested positive for swine flu. The cause of death will be determined by the Coroner.

SA Health has advised that a tenth person in South Australia has died with Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Influenza. The 47 year old woman died in a residential facility in metropolitan Adelaide on 10 August.

SA Health has been made aware by a pathologist from Forensic Science SA of a woman who died at home in whom Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Influenza tests have been proved positive. She is the ninth person in South Australia to die after being confirmed with Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza.

11 August 2009 Bogus callers soliciting funds
The Royal Adelaide Hospital Research Fund (RAHRF) has issued a warning to the public following reports of bogus callers asking for donations for funding cancer research. Mark Goldsmith, Fundraising Manager of the RAHRF, says members of the public have alerted the fund after receiving calls asking for credit card donations for cancer research.

A 48 year old man has become the eighth person in South Australia to die after being diagnosed with Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza. SA Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paddy Phillips, said the man was admitted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Friday 24 July and died on Wednesday 5 August.
