Helping South Australians to Measure Up
Staff at the Royal Adelaide Hospital are leading the way in a major push to improve the health of South Australians.
During December, the RAH Health Promotion team are conducting a range of activities and events aimed at improving the public’s knowledge of healthy eating and the value of exercise in fighting cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

Forum - Avoiding the downside of diving
Every week many South Australian divers take to the water, largely without thought to the health risks associated with their exciting sport. To better inform divers, the Royal Adelaide Hospital’s Hyperbaric Medicine Unit has invited two world experts on diving medicine to present at a special forum to discuss how to stay safe and healthy while ‘down under’. RAH Get Active Week 2008
This Friday, Royal Adelaide Hospital staff will join forces with SA sporting stars to step up and ‘get active’ as part of the hospital’s annual Get Active Week.
The Royal Adelaide Hospital Helipad Stair Climb will kick off from 11.30am on Friday 26 September, with more than 150 staff and sporting stars vying for the title of 2008 Stair Climb Champion, including Adelaide United soccer players and North Adelaide footballers.

Brain Injury Awareness Week 2008
Former clients of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit (BIRU) will gather at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre tomorrow (17/9/08) to share some amazing stories of recovery from acquired brain injury.
As part of Brain Injury Awareness Week, former BIRU clients will present to both staff who assisted their early rehabilitation and recovery, as well as staff keen to learn about the achievements of clients who have moved on after leaving hospital care.

RAH Launches the Homeless Action Plan
The Royal Adelaide Hospital is leading a major new project to provide better health services for homeless people in the inner city.
The hospital is working with a range of government and non-government agencies that support homeless people to develop the Care of the Homeless Action Plan, which aims to meet the complex needs of these patients both within and beyond the walls of the hospital.
The Care of the Homeless Action Plan was officially launched by Monsignor David Cappo, South Australia’s Commissioner for Social Inclusion, on Thursday 31 July at 10am in the Royal Adelaide Hospital foyer.

Worlds Top Cancer Researchers converge in Adelaide
The "Science amongst the Vines" conference was held in the Barossa Valley on 13-16 November 2007, bringing together the worlds best scientists and researchers.
This year’s theme is ‘Signalling Systems’. The 3-day conference was also the forum at which the Clifford Prize for Cancer Research was awarded.

RAH Memorial Service - Sunday 4 November 2007 at 3.00pm
A Memorial Service for families, relatives and friends of loved ones who have passed away at Royal Adelaide Hospital, will be held on:
Sunday 4th November at 3pm in the Royal Adelaide Hospital Chapel.
This Memorial Service provides an opportunity for those who have lost a loved one, family member or friend to:
• Honour and give thanks to their life with us
• Light a candle
• Move on in the grieving process.

$21 Million in Grants Awarded to the Hanson Institute
Scientists of the Hanson Institute at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS) have been successful in attracting $21 million in research funds, which will be dedicated to research in areas including; obesity, neuroscience, genetics, asthma, inflammation, leukaemia, cardiology, rheumatology, haematology and tissue pathology.

75 Years of Neurosurgery - Friday 12 October 2007
The Royal Adelaide Hospital Neurosurgery Department will celebrate 75 Years of Neurosurgery on Friday 12 October, commencing at 9am, in the Robson Lecture Theatre, Level 1, Eleanor Harrald Building, Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The event is open to the general public and past or present staff members and will include an exhibition and presentation highlighting the history, present activities and future directions of Neurosurgery at Royal Adelaide Hospital.
