Nursing
The nursing staff of the Orthopaedic and Trauma Service comprises 110 equivalent full time employees and provides nursing care to 82 inpatient beds, inclusive of a 10 bed spinal injuries unit and a 12 bed bone infection unit with an emphasis on treatment of bone and soft tissue infection and prevention of hospital acquired infection amongst the general orthopaedic patient population. Additionally an ambulatory care service provides nursing expertise in an outpatient setting.
Senior nursing staff have extensive experience in acute spinal injuries and acute orthopaedic and trauma nursing.
A Joint Replacement nursing service co-ordinates the cycle of care for all patients undergoing joint replacement surgery, from pre admission to post operative follow up.
A Fractured Neck of Femur Nurse aims to improve care in a more integrated way for the patient presenting to the Emergency Department with proximal femur fracture.
