The vitreo-retinal service of the RAH is the major consultative
and treatment centre in South Australia for diseases of the
retina and vitreous, including:
- Retinal detachment
- Macular hole
- Epiretinal membrane
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Trauma
- Vitreous hemorrahage
- Age related macular degeneration
Dr. H.S. Newland and Dr.
G.L. Raymond supervise the service with the assistance
of a Retinal Fellow and registrar.
Investigations and procedures available include fluorescein
angiography, ultrasonography, laser treatment, immunologic
diagnosis and vitreo-retinal microsurgery.
The vitreo-retinal service has an active teaching and research
program with a busy established vitreo-retinal fellowship
with surgical and medical retinal training. This funded position
is usually a year fellowship commencing in January.
