Aero Medical Evacuation Consultant
Dr Andrew Pearce is an Emergency Physician with appointments in Trauma/Emergency and Retrieval Medicine. Andrew is part of the hospital disaster executive and is a member of the Emergency Management Committee for the State through the Department of Health. Andrew trained at Flinders University then Royal Adelaide Hospital before travelling to the UK and working at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
Andrew also worked for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) and sailed from the UK to work at Rothera Base on Adelaide Island, Antarctica. On returning to Australia Andrew spent 18 months with Westpac Surf Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter in Sydney to gain further experience in all aspects of retrieval medicine and now he is one of the Aeromedical Consultants at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Currently a Wing Commander RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) specialist reservist and chair of the Emergency Medicine Consultative Group to the Australian Defence Force.
Andrew is actively involved in teaching as an EMST (Early Management of Severe Trauma) Director in SA, clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide, MIMMS instructor (Major Incident Medical Management and Support Course), to the ambulance Intensive Care Paramedic course and medical student/emergency trainee tutorials. He is now Vice President of the Australasian Trauma Society (ATS).
Interests outside work centre on Annette and our son Matthew, good wine, good friends, travel and flying. |
