Close or casual contact with known COVID-19 Thebarton cluster

SA Health have advised that there are a number of COVID-19 cases known as the ‘Thebarton Cluster’.

Information is as follows:

  • More than 1,100 staff and students who have been identified as ‘Casual Contacts’ with the positive cases. This group has been advised to self-quarantine at home by CDCB.
  • Around 70 students and staff have been identified as ‘Close Contacts’ with the positive cases, and are in quarantine at medi-hotels under supervision as advised by CDCB.

Any CALHN healthcare workers who have had close contact with an identified casual contact (ie one of the 1,100 who are self-quarantining at home) can attend work as long as the casual contact is strictly adhering to the quarantine requirements within their home.

Any CALHN healthcare workers who have had close contact with identified close contacts (ie one of the 70 isolating within the medi-hotel) are requested to self-quarantine for 14 days at home.

Information related to self-quarantining is available from this SA Health Fact Sheet.

If at any stage you or your close contact becomes symptomatic, please immediately undergo COVID-19 testing and self-isolate until you receive the results. Clinic locations are available from SA Health website.

If you are self-quarantining, please advise your line manager and advise Human Resources through this online form.
