Is the emergency department the best place for you?

If not, there are other options

Food, drinks and shops

The retail space at the Royal Adelaide Hospital is home to businesses such as cafes, a newsagency, food court, gift shop and banking facilities.

The hospital’s main retail precinct is located on level 3 (ground floor), and includes food outlets providing a range of products.

Other facilities include a dental clinic, childcare centre and a playground overlooking the River Torrens.

The childcare centre is located on level 5 and features vibrant indoor and outdoor play areas. Run by Stepping Stone (SA) Childcare and Early Development Centres, the purpose-built facility offers up to 90 places for children between birth and school age. This service is available to staff and the wider community.

Food and beverages facilities are also available nearby to the hospital.

Options include the west end of Hindley Street which is located 350 metres to the south of the RAH, and the University of South Australia’s West End Campus, which is situated 600 metres to the east on North Terrace, which is serviced by cafes and food outlets.
